You’re scrolling through your messages and someone drops “STSU” in the chat. You stare at it for a second — is that an insult? A joke? Just some random abbreviation you’ve never seen before? It happens to everyone. STSU stands for “Shut The S* Up”** — it’s a blunt, internet-born acronym used to tell someone…

You’re texting a friend, tell them you’re exhausted after a long week, and they fire back: “ditto.” Just that one word. No explanation, no context. If you’ve ever stared at your screen wondering whether that’s a compliment, a brush-off, or something else entirely — you’re not alone. DITTO means “same” or “I agree” — it’s…

Your friend fires off a quick text: “My boss is such a POS, I’m done.” You read it twice. You kind of get the vibe, but you’re not 100% sure what POS means — or whether there’s another meaning you’re missing entirely. POS stands for “Piece of Sh*t” — and yes, it’s exactly as blunt…

You’re scrolling through your messages and someone just replied with “SMFH.” No context. No explanation. Just four letters that somehow carry a whole mood. SMFH stands for “Shaking My F*ing Head”** — it’s a more intense, expletive-loaded version of the already-popular SMH. People drop it when something is so frustrating, ridiculous, or just plain stupid…

DC stands for “don’t care” — a short, punchy acronym used to express indifference, dismissiveness, or a breezy lack of concern. It can be totally casual and friendly,…

Someone dropped “smb” in your DMs and now you’re staring at your phone wondering if you missed a memo. Don’t stress — it happens to everyone. SMB stands for “Suck My Back” or, more commonly, “Slide My Box” — but the version you’re most likely seeing in casual texts simply means “Suck My B***h,” a…

MMCHT stands for “Mmm, Child, Honey, Though” — a sassy, expressive acronym used to react to something dramatic, surprising, or just straight-up messy. It’s one of those phrases that sounds like something your…

K means “okay” — it’s a shorthand abbreviation for the word “okay” or “OK” used in text messages and online chats. But here’s the thing: the way it feels when someone…

You’re scrolling through your messages and someone drops “ts” in a reply — maybe after a rant, maybe after some drama — and you stare at it for a second wondering what they actually mean. TS stands for “this sht” or “that sht” — one of the most versatile and widely used pieces of Gen…

You’re texting a friend and you ask, “You coming tonight?” They reply with just: “yh.” Two letters. No punctuation. No emoji. Is that a yes? Are they annoyed? Do they even care? Don’t overthink it. YH means “Yeah” — a quick, casual way to say yes in a text message or DM. It’s one of…
